WiltonBio is an exciting biotechnology company specialising in innovative and inexpensive environmental test assays and equipment. Knowing that their business is entering a growth phase as they introduce a range of new products they wanted a website that could grow and expand organically with them; one that would be capable of meeting their unknown future needs but also meet their immediate needs in a timely fashion. EAB was pleased to build and develop a content management system based on the latest community version of eZ Publish 5.2, with a clean modern design that allows WiltonBio to tell their story in a clear and attractive way. Our team worked closely with the client to launch the new website within three weeks from start to finish.

The website at present features product descriptions, blog and news sections with an RSS feed, and an intranet for internal documents.

Ever since the website was launched WiltonBio's editorial team have been busy adding and updating content to create a dynamic and colourful website that promotes their business and supports their growth.

Jeremy Thomas, WiltonBio's Commercial Manager, said "We have been very pleased to work with the EAB team to develop an online presence that reflects our positioning and that has the ability to grow with the business. The eZ Publish platform means that we can easily update the site to keep it fresh and current as well as integrating it with our email promotions and bookkeeping activities. EAB has proved to be highly responsive and focused on making the most effective use of our spend. They have adopted a pragmatic approach which when married with their knowledge and experience of the technology has delivered real added value. We would be very happy to recommend them."

After many months of work, we’ve launched a brand new website for Victoria Fine Art to be the best for buyers of traditional and contemporary Fine Art in the UK - possibly the whole world!

Utilising jQuery and PHP for frontend and backend technologies we developed our own bespoke extension to the eZ Publish Content Management System (CMS) that implements a 'deep zoom' technique making it possible for visitors to zoom in on pictures to explore details, textures and brushwork like never before.

Zoom into painting detail

By customising eZ Find we’ve harnessed the powerful Apache Solr search engine to make it possible for art lovers to search for pictures by artist, title and categories of subject matter, size, period and price bracket.

The powerful new content management system makes it possible to curate artworks by artist, theme, period, country of origin, style - even size!

Victoria Fine Art manager, Jonathan Roberts says:

"We can’t wait to display our fabulous collection of literally thousands of beautiful, covetable paintings - many of them never before seen on the internet."

The elegant design work was provided by Sally Davidson, and our EAB Developer team led by Andy Caiger provided the bespoke software.

We are incredibly proud of this website.

Cat and Dog

We certainly couldn't! When PETrelief asked us to upgrade their website to a content management system (CMS) so that they regularly update photos of the cats, dogs and other small furry animals that they provide care for, we were happy to help out. There's now no stopping them from plundering their photo archives to charm the world with adorable shots of their pet-sitting, dog-walking and boarding clients (with their owners' permission of course).

Based on the world-class eZ Publish content management system (CMS), the website also features blog articles, RSS, testimonials and a noticeboard for important announcements of interest to pet owners in Hertfordshire.

EAB's content development and social media specialist was also able to help PETrelief make the most of Facebook and Twitter to keep their clients' owners up to date.

Our home improvement and construction client Herts Bifold Doors is delighted with a bespoke extension we created for their website: an online quote generator for their construction trade clientele to specify bifold doors for their customers and get accurate cost estimates. It also generates sales leads that are easy for HBD sales staff to follow.

The quote engine gives precise instructions on measurements and options and an easy selection interface. The quote is delivered to the trade customer’s inbox .

The flexible eZ Publish CMS powering the Herts Bifold Doors website allows websites to evolve with ever-changing business requirements: in this case a new "trade" section was added to complement their consumer business website.

HBD are a thriving small business in St Albans that trust EAB as their web partner to devise technical solutions to fuel their business growth. Find out more about our services to local businesses.

EAB est international

At the recent China Britain Business Council event in Cambridge, I was delighted to discover that the Council has just opened an office in Xi'an – where we have a Representative Office headed by Andy Caiger.

There are barriers to doing business with China: because of visa restrictions enforced by our immigration-averse government, the British are being forced to go abroad to arrange meetings with Chinese prospects. This puts Brits at a real competitive disadvantage - unless they have offices in China or other EU countries (like us).

On the plus side, growth is gathering pace with an increasing urban population – and I discovered that the Chinese may well become world leaders in digital marketing integration with offline retail!

Overall it was a very worthwhile event which has the potential to open up many opportunities. Salut!

EAB China Online is a new service from EAB specially for UK and EU businesses that want to take advantage of the trend for online selling in China.

The web development team operates from Xi’an and is led by our chief China representative Andy Caiger, supported by a group of bright young Chinese graduates with e-commerce experience.

We believe we have got something extra for companies that want to access the world’s largest market for online selling. Forecasts indicate that the Chinese market will grow to $176 billion by 2014!

Internet in China

Here are four things you may not know about the internet in China:

  1. Tencent QQ, the most popular online chat and social networking software in China
You cannot easily get access to Youtube, Twitter or Facebook in China.
  2. The most popular search engine is Baidu.
  3. Tencent QQ with 784 million active user accounts is a cross between AOL, Yahoo, Facebook and MSN. Tencent has a bigger market capitalisation than Facebook!
  4. Although traditionally the Chinese are a debt-averse lot about 30 percent of Chinese urban households now own at least one credit card, which can be used to make international purchases through the internet. Other payment systems based on cash or debit only work within China.

Andy says:

"Internet shopping and mail-order are huge in China now. The language barrier means that UK goods need to be sold on the internet in Chinese. This can be achieved either through appointing a Chinese representative to manage a web-shop on a local shopping site such as taobao.com or by having your own website translated into Chinese. There are pros and cons for both which I'm happy to discuss with anyone who is considering selling online in China. We would encourage more UK businesses to give trading in China some serious consideration!"

G&N install conservatories in Hertfordshire

The Enterprise AB team has just completed the transfer of an existing website for a leading St Albans-based door, window and conservatory specialist G&N Windows

The original web design has been largely retained, but now accesses the power of the eZ Publish Content Management System. eZ Publish's powerful URL system, well-designed HTML code and meta tagging functionality means that any website converted to eZ Publish sees improvements in terms of search engine optimisation (SEO) but our content specialist also enhanced the image gallery and work blog features with the addition of alt texts which should boost the search ratings even further.

We also helped GNW expand and enhance the content with the addition of dynamic 'page-flipping' online brochures for all the product lines. Social media has been integrated into the site and our training team is helping GNW staff including installers to start to feed in images and stories to the blog and drive social media engagement.

Enterprise AB are offering a content management service to help this lean and fast paced business stay on top of its web space.

"Now GNW have converted to eZ Publish the sky is the limit for them!" says Andre Bottin, "The website is poised for development to add on online purchasing, enhanced quotation and customer log in functions."

Enterprise AB is also providing IT software consultancy to advise this ambitious business on communications development.
