After many months of work, we’ve launched a brand new website for Victoria Fine Art to be the best for buyers of traditional and contemporary Fine Art in the UK - possibly the whole world!

Utilising jQuery and PHP for frontend and backend technologies we developed our own bespoke extension to the eZ Publish Content Management System (CMS) that implements a 'deep zoom' technique making it possible for visitors to zoom in on pictures to explore details, textures and brushwork like never before.

By customising eZ Find we’ve harnessed the powerful Apache Solr search engine to make it possible for art lovers to search for pictures by artist, title and categories of subject matter, size, period and price bracket.

The powerful new content management system makes it possible to curate artworks by artist, theme, period, country of origin, style - even size!

Victoria Fine Art manager, Jonathan Roberts says:

"We can’t wait to display our fabulous collection of literally thousands of beautiful, covetable paintings - many of them never before seen on the internet."

The elegant design work was provided by Sally Davidson, and our EAB Developer team led by Andy Caiger provided the bespoke software.

We are incredibly proud of this website.

Victoria Fine Art – a specialist art seller in St Albans, Herts - has selected EAB to develop a new online gallery solution for its unrivalled stock of Victorian, Modern and Contemporary paintings.

Serving national and international markets for private decorative, interior design and investment buyers, Victoria Fine Art will join EAB’s roster of clients in the UK and international fine art sector.

The new site will showcase Victoria Fine Art's growing range of services including museum-quality restoration and framing. Designed for the discerning collector it will allow browsing and selection by subject matter, artist, genre, period and dimension. Contemporary artists will also be given a showcase alongside the Modern, Victorian and Impressionist periods.

One of the bespoke solutions required will be an increased zoom for online buyers to inspect quality and texture more closely than ever before.

The aims of the site will be both to stimulate footfall to the retail premises and to encourage online sales through supplying descriptive content of comparable level to an auctioneer’s report.

EAB has developed special expertise in online gallery development: view our clients in the arts and leisure sector.

On Thursday May 8th, EAB's managing director Andre Bottin gave a talk "How can an artist succeed on the Internet". This evening event is a regular Networking event run by Creative Herts.

This talk was aimed at those who are keen to make a living out of their artistic gifts and provide useful tips on how to create a winning strategy. Although the talk includes loads of tips on what to do and what not to do with a website it actually majors on a number of necessary marketing activities which are necessary to be successful.

Andre's experience in web development is considerable as he's been implementing web solutions since 1995 for a wide range of clients, including local government, commercial organisations and many small businesses. Andre has also business interest and experience in the local art scene, both via his online gallery ventures: enterprisefineart.com and island-of-art.com and as being a long term Organising Group Committee member of Herts Visual Arts.
